The only one immune to the spell is Aran de Lira, a descendant of the royal guards, who is the last to wield a true weapon. He is accompanied on his journey by the young scholar Adso, a specialist in the ancient secrets of blacksmithing. Together they traverse forests, palace corridors, and fortresses, searching for a way to overthrow the ruler and restore balance to the kingdom.

Blades of Fire is a third-person action game. Forging your own weapons and using them in spectacular battles is the main focus.

Each enemy has different weaknesses, so choosing the right weapon is crucial. Weapons are crafted at the forge, using materials and schematics acquired throughout the adventure. You can choose from swords, hammers, and axes, varying in speed, weight, and durability.

Adso supports us in combat, noting down observations about our enemies and offering suggestions on how to defeat them most effectively.

The heart of the game lies in dynamic battles with a variety of opponents – from the Queen’s soldiers, to the undead, to fantastic beasts.

The story unfolds at a remote, ice-covered research station in Antarctica, where all communication has suddenly gone silent. A concerned U.S. rescue team is sent to the facility to uncover the cause of what happened. You take on the role of the special unit’s captain – J.F. Blake.

What seems like a simple mission – arrive, investigate, report – quickly proves deceptive. It soon becomes clear that an anomaly is responsible for the scientists’ disappearance: unidentified lifeforms. In many cases, their presence first manifests as seemingly harmless infections in humans, who eventually lose all resemblance to their former selves…

Leading your squad isn’t easy when trust starts to waver and the rescue mission begins to feel more like a desperate struggle for survival.

How to play:

You command a team of up to four specialists – soldiers, medics, and engineers. You can issue basic orders, assign tasks, and use each member’s skills depending on the situation.

Weapons? There’s plenty to choose from – pistols, rifles, grenades, and even a flashy flamethrower.

The threat isn’t always visible – some of your teammates may be infected. Regular testing helps reveal the truth, but excessive suspicion can lower trust.

The squad reacts to stress – fear and uncertainty can lead to panic, refusal to cooperate, or even hostility. In The Thing, these conditions are part of everyday life – so stress management will come in handy.

The cold is another danger – staying out in the freezing weather for too long drains your health. Find warm spots or risk freezing to death.

Dual Effect studios deliberately harken back to the genre’s golden age of the 1990s, where every decision could determine survival, and tension built not only in combat but also during leisurely exploration.

This is a game for those who enjoy a mix of action, puzzles, and a sense of constant danger.

How to play:

Combat and exploration are the core elements – Caroline constructs improvised weapons (from nail guns to chainsaws) and uses them to defend herself against monsters.

A new feature in Tormented Souls 2 is the quick weapon selection, allowing for quick reactions during combat. On the other hand, the game heavily emphasises puzzles – you must observe your surroundings, manipulate objects, and creatively combine resources to uncover new secrets.

Caroline also gains supernatural abilities: she can shift between realities and alter the past to influence the present. The whole experience is rounded out by a gallery of enemies – from swift, blade-wielding creatures to armoured beasts and spectacular bosses that test both the player’s reflexes and ingenuity.
